Target Audience Profile

Francesca is 18 years old and lives alone in her flat in Glasgow. She was born in Newcastle. She has just started working as a full time manager in Rokit clothing. She has a strong likeness to modern indie and rock music and likes to mould her work around her interest of music. Francesca is successful in her work as she is imaginative and has a strong love for fashion. Francesca spends a lot of time online, as it is easier for her to work on and to get inspiration from. She gets around £17,000 per annum which is spent strictly on her rent and essential costs. Companies like Boohoo and ASOS allow her to attend already paid for events to gigs and festivals to review latest fashions for her blog, so she likes to stay on top of what’s going on in the music world.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

Initial Thoughts

My initial thoughts will be based on my inspirations which will come from New Musical Express and The Face magazines. NME which is solely committed to music rather than the artist, will be influenced in my own magazine. My magazine wont completely be focused on music which is why it ties in with The Face magazine which focuses on music, fashion and lifestyle.

Main Task Brief

My main task brief for the next two terms is to create a front, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine. I must use a selection of at least 4 original photos of my own. I decide on what genre of music and type of magazine I can do.

Second Magazine Draft

Feedback on First Draft

I asked multiple students in my class what they thought of my 1st draft of magazine cover and contents page. The feedback I received were positive and negative. The first things that are noticeable about my front cover are the images used. These are not my own images, and the feedback I received was to include my own images. I’ve taken a range of quality photos relating to the school academy and will be including these photos in my 2nd draft.

More feedback included the use of too many different fonts on the cover, I have used around 4 different fonts and this was seen as disorientating and messy to my feedback audience. I’ve decided to stick to 2 fonts on the cover and contents page to keep a general consistency.

The layout of the cover also looks quite disorganised and the colours clash a bit and doesn’t stand out a lot which makes it difficult to read.

Preliminary Task Brief

My task is to create a title and contents page for the school magazine. I will use the skills I acquired in GCSE Media to create these pages. As this is a preliminary task my work wont be perfect. 

5 Week Action Plan
